Commercial Refuse & Recycling Collection

The City of Fitchburg requires that commercial properties (i.e., businesses, institutions, condominiums, or multi-family dwellings larger than four units) provide for their own recycling and refuse collection. City Ordinance requires recycling of the following materials:
  • Aluminum containers
  • Bi-metal containers
  • Corrugated paper and other container board
  • Foam polystyrene packaging
  • Glass containers
  • Lead acid batteries
  • Magazines
  • Major appliances
  • Mixed paper
  • Newspaper
  • Office paper
  • Plastic containers
  • Steel containers
  • Tires
  • Waste oil
  • Yard waste and brush
