Composition
The Bicycle Committee will be comprised of one Alderperson, one Fitchburg Chamber of Commerce representative and five Fitchburg residents. Members shall have a strong interest and varied levels of experience with cycling, be recreational or for transportation; or a strong interest and background in developing and promoting events.
Summary of Duties
The purpose of this committee is to encourage and promote bicycling at all levels in Fitchburg. This shall be done by engaging the community through public information programs, by organizing citywide events, and by promoting the city as a venue for all types of cycling events. This committee shall identify bicycle tour routes and promote the safe use of roads, trails, and road crossings. They shall also work to identify social and economic barriers to cycling and identify opportunities to make cycling more accessible for everyone. This committee shall use the Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan as a map to accomplish these goals and will be the lead committee for the periodic review of this document.
