On Monday, January 1, 2018 at approximately 11:16 am Fitchburg Police Officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of Smithfield Circle for a report of a home struck by a stray bullet. Officers located a bullet hole in an exterior wall and learned the bullet went through a headboard of a bed where an adult female and child were sleeping. The bullet then struck a VCR on a dresser and was eventually located inside an interior wall. No one was injured in the incident.
At approximately 12:23 am on January 1, 2018 Fitchburg Police Officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of King James Way for a report of shots fired, however nothing was located at that time. The incident is still under investigation.
