[ARCHIVED] POC Firefighter Application Process Now Open

FFD Badge transparent background - Cropped

The Fitchburg Fire Department is now accepting applications for Paid-On-Call Firefighters from individuals who are motivated and meet the following qualifications:

- 18 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
- Live within the City of Fitchburg, if you do not have previous firefighter training
- Possess a valid Wisconsin driver’s license
- No felony convictions
- Not subject to restrictions that would interfere with firefighting duties

To become a member of the City of Fitchburg Fire Department, you must have at least completed State of Wisconsin Entry Level Firefighter training. If you are a resident of the City of Fitchburg and do not have this training, the department will pay for your tuition and books as well as provide the equipment necessary to complete the class. Upon successful completion, you will be considered for appointment to the department as a paid-on-call firefighter.  Once you are a member of the department you will be provided additional training before you are placed in a firefighting role.

Applicants should be aware that being a paid-on-call member of the Department will require a fairly substantial time commitment for training, calls for service, working shifts at the firehouses and other Department activities.

To apply: www.fitchburgwi.gov --> Human Resources --> Job Openings --> Paid On-Call Firefighter --> Apply (if you don't currently have a NeoGov login, you will first need to create an account).

Applications will be accepted through July 23, 2018.
If you have any questions regarding the Paid-On-Call Firefighter position, please contact Wes Coppersmith at wes.coppersmith@fitchburgwi.gov.
