On Friday, November 9, around 1:20 p.m., a motorist reported a vehicle driving erratically in the City of Fitchburg, on County Highway M, near South Fish Hatchery Road (CTH D). A short time later, the caller reported the vehicle had struck a utility pole on South Fish Hatchery Road.
Investigating officers determined the vehicle seen driving erratically was the only vehicle involved in the crash. The vehicle left the roadway on South Fish Hatchery Road, south of County Highway M, where it struck a utility pole causing wires to fall onto the road. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for operating while intoxicated, fourth-offense.
South Fish Hatchery Road was closed from County Highway M to Netherwood Road for approximately three hours while crews worked to clear the utility lines from the road.
The Dane County Sheriff's Office and Fitchburg Fire Rescue assisted at the crash scene.
No injuries were reported as a result of the crash.
Douglas E. Comstock, 31, of Belleville
Comstock was arrested for operating while intoxicated, fourth-offense (a felony) and booked into the Dane County Jail.
