Last month, five new police officers were sworn in to serve and protect the City of Fitchburg.
Please join us in welcoming:
•Officer Ryan Bigalk, originally from Minnesota, previously served the City of Blaine, Minnesota, for two years as a police officer.
•Officer Logan Brown, originally from south-central Wisconsin, previously served the communities of Lake Delton and the Town of Madison as a police officer.
•Officer Brooke Cooper, originally from Illinois, served in the United States Coast Guard prior to joining the New York City Police Department, where she spent nearly eight years.
•Officer Skyler Quade, originally from Iowa, worked as an EMT prior to moving to Wisconsin and entering the 139th Law Enforcement Academy at Madison College.
•Officer Brenda Xiong has served the City of Fitchburg for the last two years as a civilian service employee and as a dispatcher. She is currently attending the 140th Law Enforcement Academy at Madison College is scheduled to graduate in May.
This group of new officers marks the first advertised hiring of “lateral transfer” officers. The recently approved lateral transfer process allows experienced officers to transfer their years of service as it relates to pay and benefits. The goal is to attract and hire veteran law enforcement officers in order to benefit our department and community through increased experience and a reduction in training time.
