Case # MO19-07840
On Tuesday June 18, 2019 at approximately 1:46am, Monona Police Officers were dispatched to Wal-Mart in the City of Monona for a report of two possible stolen vehicles in the underground parking lot. The vehicles were described as a Black Ford SUV and a Blue Toyota smaller SUV. The Monona Police arrived on scene and attempted to stop the Black SUV as it was leaving the parking lot.
The operator of the SUV accelerated rapidly towards two fully uniformed Officers almost striking one of the Officers. This vehicle was also suspected of being involved in an armed robbery and shots fired call the day prior. Monona Officers, along with Dane County Sheriff’s Department, pursued this vehicle. Numerous area departments assisted with deploying spike strips in an attempt to safely end the pursuit. There was a successful deployment of spikes and the vehicle stopped. The suspects from the vehicle fled on foot. Another vehicle came to the area and picked up the fleeing suspects. A second pursuit ensued, that vehicle was also stopped using spikes, and the occupants were detained. Ana Brindley, age 20 of Sun Prairie, and Martinique Walker, age 19 of Madison, were booked into the Dane County Jail on charges of Knowingly Fleeing an Officer and Resisting an Officer respectively.
Simultaneously other Monona Officers and Madison Officers were in the area of Wal-Mart and Speedway looking for the second stolen vehicle. Officers attempted contact with four suspects at the Speedway lot. While attempting contact the suspects started to flee and it is believed one of them fired two shots. No Officers were struck by the gunfire and no Officers discharged their weapon. A perimeter was established and a K9 track was conducted. The suspects were last seen jumping the fence and running towards the beltline.
The investigation into both incidents is still ongoing. If you have any information reference this case, please contact the Monona Police Department at (608)222-0463
