[ARCHIVED] Winter Reminders

Fitchburg Police Department News

With another round of snow still falling, here are a few winter reminders:

•Never leave your car unlocked, running and unattended. We know it’s no fun to start your day in a cold car, but it’s better than starting your day with no car at all. Even if it’s just for a few seconds, don’t leave your car running and unlocked.

•Headed outside to play or shovel? Keep your garage door closed. Again, it takes just a few seconds for someone to enter your garage and leave with a car

•Remember alternate side parking restrictions are in effect from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m.. More information related to alternate side parking can be found here: https://www.fitchburgwi.gov/1087/Parking

•City ordinance requires property owners to remove snow & ice from sidewalks no later than 6 p.m. on the day after the accumulation. Concerns related to sidewalk snow removal can be directed to the building inspection department.

•Take a few minutes to ensure you remove all snow and ice from your vehicle before you hit the road. Completely clearing your vehicle helps you see and be seen while also keeping other drivers safe from falling snow and ice.
