[ARCHIVED] Property Crime Prevention

Thursday night, around 9 p.m., we responded to a residence on Stamford Place for a burglary where a vehicle was stolen from an open garage. The owner reported the vehicle fob was in the car.

Early this morning we responded to a residence on Dawley Drive for another burglary. A suspect/suspects entered an open garage and then entered the home via an unlocked door. The suspect/suspects found keys inside the home and drove off with a car from the garage.

These two incidents are residential burglaries 11 & 12 for the month.

We know summer is full of comings and goings, yard work, and other activities. Kids may be home for the summer or family may be visiting. Whatever you or your family may be up to during the day, remind everyone in your home to take simple crime prevention steps, especially before going to bed.

Generally speaking, entries into garages occur overnight but, like the incident Thursday night, we have had burglaries at all hours of the day. If your garage door does not need to be open, please keep it closed. Never keep valuables, keys, or fobs in you car. If you park your cars outside, remove garage door openers and ensure cars are locked.

Please help us spread this information in your neighborhood, with your friends, family, and co-workers.
