The City of Fitchburg has removed a well from service for emergency repairs. In order to ensure that there is an ample supply of water reserved for fire protection and domestic use, the Fitchburg Utility District is asking that you not sprinkle your lawn during the month of July. If it is necessary for you to sprinkle your lawn, please do so before 9:00 a.m. or after 9:00 p.m., and as indicated below:
If you live on the odd numbered side of the street, sprinkle your lawn only on odd numbered days.
If you live on the even numbered side of the street, sprinkle your lawn only on even numbered days.
Please note, placement of new yards is not advised.
Sprinkling during the cooler morning or evening hours is more effective because less water is lost to evaporation and your lawn or garden is able to absorb more of the water. This will also help in reducing your water bill.
The Fitchburg Utility District appreciates your cooperation. If the water usage continues to increase, mandatory restrictions may be enacted.
