Earlier today, Dawaun K. Hugger, 20, of Fitchburg, made his initial appearance in Dane County Circuit Court on the charges of Attempted 1st Degree Intentional Homicide and Misdemeanor Bail Jumping. Hugger was taken into custody by the Fitchburg Police Department on May 30 for his involvement in the May 29 shooting on High Ridge Trail. Fitchburg detectives identified Hugger as one of the people responsible for shooting a gun in the incident.
A second man, Phillip Walker, 18, of Fitchburg, was also taken into custody on May 30 for his participation in the event. Walker made his initial appearance today on charges of Disorderly Conduct and Felony Bail Jumping.
Investigators are still identifying people involved in the altercation, which escalated to gunfire, leaving three wounded on Memorial Day.

Shortly after 7 p.m., Monday evening, Fitchburg officers responded to the 2100 block of High Ridge Trail for a report of shots fired. As officers arrived in the area, they located two shooting victims. Both men were transported to a hospital for non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.
A short time later, a third man arrived at a hospital with serious gunshot injuries.
The victims, ages 18, 20, and 22, remain hospitalized but are in stable condition.
Preliminary information indicates the incident began with a fight in an apartment complex parking lot. Investigators believe everyone involved is known to each other.
The incident is under active investigation. No additional information is available for release at this time.
