Summary:
On Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at approximately 5:40 p.m., Fitchburg police officers responded to intersection of King James Way and King James Court for a disturbance.
Officers had taken a report earlier in the afternoon Tuesday, from a parent whose child was involved in a fight that had occurred on the afternoon of Monday, September 21st. The fight had occurred in the same area after students had gotten off of the bus but was not initially reported to the police by any involved parties. The involved juveniles were acquainted with one another as they attend Verona High School together. The initial investigation indicates an additional disturbance transpired during the school day, Tuesday*, at Verona High School.
Shortly after officers took the report of the fight that occurred Monday, at approximately 5:40 p.m. on Tuesday the 22nd, an additional disturbance broke out between the involved juveniles and several adults. Officers responded to the area again to investigate the disturbance. During this investigation, while officers were still on-scene, another, larger, disturbance broke out, this time with many more adults becoming involved, with approximately seventy-five to one hundred individuals involved. Several juveniles and adults were detained and later released pending further investigation.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The Verona Police Department and the Dane County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
Injuries:
Two individuals were assessed at the scene by Fitchrona EMS for minor injuries.
Arrests:
No arrests have been made an no citations have been issued due the continuing investigation.
*The initial report indicated a disturbance occurred on Monday. The release should have read Tuesday.
