Giving to the Library

Thank you for considering the library for your charitable contributions. A donation to the Fitchburg Public Library is an excellent way to enhance and enrich library services for the entire Fitchburg community. The city and the Friends of Fitchburg Library are not-for-profit, which means that donations to the library or the Friends are tax exempt. These are the most common ways people can donate to the library; for detailed information about gifts to the library, please refer to the library’s gift policy.

Donations to the Friends can take the form of books, movies, and CDs, or monetary gifts. Library staff review all donations of items to potentially add volumes to the collection, and the remainder are sold by the Friends at their regular book sales. The proceeds of these sales come back to the library to support library programs and professional development. A monetary gift made out to the Friends can be used directly by the Friends to support library activities.  Please visit the Friends of Fitchburg Library website to donate electronically.

Give to the Library Endowment Fund

The Fitchburg Library has an endowment fund through the Madison Community Foundation. The endowment provides both long-term security to build a solid future for the library, while also providing annual funds to support library programming. A gift can be made to the endowment fund either by writing a check to Madison Community Foundation or by making a be-quest through your will or trust. If you are interested in including the Fitchburg Library in your estate plan, it is recommended that you consult a financial planner or estate attorney.

Give to the Library General Fund

If you would like to donate directly to the library, you may do so by making a check out to the library.  The Library Director will then direct your donation to where it is needed most.
