Details:
A 25-year-old-man arrived at a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound after being shot Sunday morning in Fitchburg. Around 9:25 a.m., 911 callers reported multiple gunshots in the area of Williamsburg Way and Verona Road. Responding officers located evidence of the shooting in a business parking lot in the 5200 block of Williamsburg Way.
The victim arrived at a local hospital a short time later and confirmed he was shot in Fitchburg. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was with at least one other person in the parking lot when the suspect drove into the lot, exited their vehicle, and opened fire. Rounds struck an unoccupied parked car and a moped in the lot. Officers determined the other bullets likely traveled across Verona Road.
While this appears to be a targeted incident, the morning gunfire in a business parking lot adjacent to an urban expressway certainly jeopardized public safety. The incident remains under investigation, no arrests have been made, and no additional information is available for release at this time.
