Last week, a 26-year-old man was sentenced to prison for his role in a 2021 shots fired incident in Fitchburg. Adonius E. Paul was sentenced in Dane County Circuit Court to three years of initial confinement and four years of extended supervision following a guilty plea for discharging a firearm toward another person/vehicle. Charges of recklessly endangering safety and possession of a stolen firearm were dismissed but read in as part of the plea.
Paul was arrested just days after an incident on May 11, 2021, in which multiple gunshots were exchanged in an apartment complex parking lot and on Oregon Road. The Fitchburg Police Department appreciates the continued assistance of community members in reporting and sharing information in similar incidents.

Incident Details:
On Friday, May 14, investigators followed up on an investigative lead related to a May 11 shots fired incident that occurred in the 2800 block of Oregon Road. During the course of their follow-up, investigators identified Adonius E. Paul, 24, as a suspect and took him into custody. A search warrant, conducted at an apartment connected to Paul in the 2700 block of Novation Parkway, led to the discovery of a stolen handgun.
The investigation into the incident continues, as investigators believe Paul was engaged in the exchange of gunfire with at least one occupant of a vehicle. Multiple gunshots were fired during the incident in an apartment complex parking lot and in the area of Highway 14. This is the fifth confirmed shots fired incident in Fitchburg of 2021.
Paul made an initial appearance earlier this week in Dane County Circuit Court on charges of 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Endangering Safety By Use of a Dangerous Weapon, and Receiving Stolen Property.

Incident Details:
On May 11, 2021, at approximately 11:20 p.m., Fitchburg Officers were dispatched to the 2800 block of Oregon Road for a report of shots fired.
Officers on scene located nine shell casings and one vehicle that was struck by gunfire. No other property damaged was located and no injuries have been reported.
