On Tuesday, September 19, 2023, Fitchburg officers were dispatched to a disturbance over a vehicle being towed from the 3300 block of Leopold Way. The initial responding officers arrived to find a large group of people forming who were arguing with the tow truck driver. It was reported one subject had pushed the tow truck driver while he was securing the car to his truck. During the arrest of this individual, a Fitchburg officer was injured after the subject kicked him in the face. During the course of the first arrest, another subject attempted to interfere by charging the arresting officer. This attempt to interfere with the arrest was witnessed by a fellow officer who intervened and stopped the attack from continuing. This second subject became resistant to police when taken into custody, causing injury to a second officer.
Due to the size and nature of the disturbance, the Fitchburg Police Department was assisted by the Dane County Sheriff's Office and the City of Madison Police Department.
Iesha T. Jones, 44 of Fitchburg is expected to appear in court on November 6, for Battery to a Law Enforcement Officer.
Kiera D. Lewis, 26 of Fitchburg was arrested and booked into the Dane County Jail for Resisting an Officer and Disorderly Conduct.
