On Wednesday, October 4th, the Fitchburg Police Department will join over 300 police departments across the country for National Coffee with a Cop Day. Citizens are invited to join Fitchburg Police officers at Starbucks, 2981 Triverton Pike Drive, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., for free coffee and conversation. The mission of Coffee with a Cop is to break down barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve. 2017 marks the fifth year the Fitchburg Police Department has hosted Coffee with a Cop events throughout the city. Coffee with a Cop began in California in 2011 and has since spread to all 50 states and around the globe.
National Coffee with a Cop Day is a day dedicated to encourage communication and positive interactions between law enforcement agencies and the public. The day began as part of National Community Policing Week in 2016 and now continues each year on the first Wednesday in October furthering efforts nationwide to bridge the gap between the community and the law.
Citizens are encouraged to attend the event for a chance to meet officers, ask questions and share concerns. Free coffee will be provided by the Fitchburg Police Department.
