Pollinator Garden

Library main pollinator garden bed

Visit the library pollinator gardens from spring through fall to see the variety of blooms as the seasons change.

In the spring of 2023, Fitchburg library staff in collaboration with Dane County Master Gardeners revitalized the raised gardens at the Library's Lacy Road entrance and outside of the Storytime Room. The gardens are featured in our summer programming and for the community to enjoy.

The library held a BioBlitz through iNaturalist to record insects visiting the gardens in the summer of 2024. Participants made 124 observations of 62 species including butterflies, beetles and 16 different kinds of bees. One of our master gardeners saw an endangered Rusty-Patched Bumble Bee. Go to the Insects of Fitchburg Public Library iNaturalist project page.
