The Fitchburg Public Library is pleased to announce that we will be opening for Express Services on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, beginning on Friday, May 7th, 2021.  We will continue curbside services on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.

With this change in service, we have new guidelines for patrons coming into the Library. Please read all of these guidelines and our COVID-19 Policy before your visit and observe newly posted signs throughout the building.

Health & Safety

For the health and safety of all patrons and staff, all visitors are required to adhere to the following guidelines.

  • Face masks are required
  • Limit your visit to 60 minutes or less
  • Maintain a 6' distance from others

Library Hours


Mondays In Person 9:00 am – 8:00 pm
Tuesdays
Curbside 9:00 am – 8:00 pm
Wednesdays In Person 9:00 am – 8:00 pm
Thursdays Curbside      9:00 am – 8:00 pm
Fridays In Person    10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Saturdays Curbside 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Sundays CLOSED

Services & Guidelines

In-Library Services*:

  • Holds-pickup from the open hold shelf.
  • Browsing the collections.
  • Computer use and printing.
  • Reference assistance.
  • Reader’s advisory.
  • Technology help.
  • WiFi access.

*Some of these services may be limited.

Please Know:

  • ALL returned materials must be placed in a book drop.
    • Returned materials will not be accepted at any service point in the building.
    • Returned materials will be quarantined for a period of time before check-in.
  • Touch screens and toys have been removed from the Children’s Library to maintain a clean and sanitary environment for patrons.
  • The Library will not have print newspapers available.
  • The following rooms in the building are CLOSED until further notice:
    • Meeting Room
    • Conference Room
    • All Study Rooms
    • Quiet Reading Room
    • Fitchburg Room
    • Storytime Room
  • Public computers & WiFi:
    • Computer sessions have been adjusted to 1 hour per day.
    • Staff will not be extending computer sessions.
    • Express WiFi stations are designated around the library for individual use, and have a limit of 1 hour per day.
  • Material donations will be limited to 20 items at a time. 
    • Donations must be placed in designated bin.
    • Donations will not be accepted at any service point in the building.
